Blessed

Here we go!

Luke is the newest member of the church! He was baptized on Saturday with his family by his side. It was such an incredible day. He spent the morning and early afternoon snuggling with his family that flew in from Omaha-- Grandma Chris, Grandpa Mike, Great Grandma and Aunt Lacey came Friday to celebrate his special day. He has a few catnaps but just didn't want to sleep. It made us a little nervous to see how he would get through the mass and ceremony. He couldn't have done better! He was all smiles and when it was time for him to get blessed, it was like he knew exactly what he was supposed to do and he was ready. It's clear that Fr. Pat loves babies. His face kept him calm and made him giggle during his "dips" into the water. It was such a blessing to experience it and to share it with our families. I couldn't help but be overfilled with joy, for Luke and to be able to witness the beginning of his spiritual journey. It was magical. Such a perfect, extraordinary experience.

Luke was baptized in a baptism gown that my great-Grandmother made. My Mom, her two brothers, my sister, cousin and I were all baptized in it. It is all hand stitched and is beautiful. Bobby wasn't too happy about him wearing a "dress" but it was great for sentimental purposes.

The ceremony was very interactive. After the blessing, Fr. Pat held both babies and walked around to each section and the people in front all bless their shins, clap and sing. It's hard to explain... just incredible. Grandpa Mike was kind of enough to capture everything on video. I'd like to post it but don't know how to edit it to be shorter. (if anyone out there can tell me how or point me in the right direction... let me know!

We had everyone over for dinner afterwards. Mr. Luke went to bed because he was tired from his exciting day. Bobby and I had made a LARGE pot of spaghetti sauce the weekend before to serve after the baptism. It was a hit! My Mom and sister made some food too which was a huge help. So, all in all it was a relatively stress free party. It was nice for everyone to spend some time together.
