40 days and 40 nights

Countdown... 40 days from today.

We had our 34-week appointment this morning and everything is still on track. They're happy at how uneventful things are and both the nurse and the doctor were surprised at how easily I could get up after laying down on the table for the heartbeat monitoring. His heartbeat was 150 again and she was able to get a small taste of how active he is. I asked them if it was normal because sometimes his activity is so high it hurts. She said that there was no reason to worry, that it was a good sign of how healthy he is. She suggested that we make sure we know how to swaddle because he's definitely going to need/want that feeling of confinement. He is already head down and is in a good position overall.

Bobby and I have been taking/ have taken several classes to help us get ready for Baby A's arrival. We have our last class of Childbirth Prep tonight. It'll be interesting to see if everyone is in the class because last Thursday, there were 4 girls who 1) had contractions, but they stopped labor 2) had high blood pressure combined with bed rest 3) had false labor. It was interesting to hear someone describe exactly what contractions feel like. The girls in the room were all picking her brain-- it was nice of her to allow us to do that!

Baby A's room is pretty much done. My Mom finished the window valance and the bed skirt and they look great! Exactly what I was thinking. I may do another painting for the wall but if that doesn't happen the room is still "done" for him. I'll take some pictures in the next few days to post.

We're in the middle of our last two major projects in the house. The basement carpet is being installed today or tomorrow and the exterior of the house is being painted starting today. We're really excited to have these two things done... and it will be just in time for Baby A's arrival!

Several girlfriends came into Denver last weekend to celebrate Christy's upcoming wedding-- we had a shower followed by a bachelorette party on Saturday night. The day's activities turned out great and it was wonderful to have the opportunity for all of us to celebrate Christy together. Her wedding is in September in the mountains so it will be nice to be able to drive up for the event. We're going to play it by ear for if we bring Baby A with us or not. It depends on when he comes, how our routine is going, how we're feeling in general, etc. If we're doing okay, my Mom and Dad will watch him. If not, we'll bring him and take turns. We got our own room so that his "noises" will be kept for just us!

40 days, 40 days... we're so excited to meet him we can hardly stand it. Thank you for all of your prayers for us. Please keep them coming, we're hoping things keep going this way until he's here in our arms... and beyond! :)
