Oh my, 3 weeks old!

Man, Luke is 3 weeks old today and I haven't posted since a few days after he was born! Every time I go to blog or even think to blog (or return phone calls...) our little man has another idea. Of course, my schedule is now his schedule and Mr. Luke is demanding! At our 2-week check up he wasn't quite up to his birth weight and he let us know that he was NOT okay with that. He's been eating like a crazy man thus why I am up at 2:00am blogging. I figured that this was as good a time as any so here I am!

Some info about Mr. Luke:

- He loves to have his hands by/on his face- at any time.

- He doesn't like a pacifier very much. He'll take it every now and then but prefers his hands.

- Bama loves her new brother-- tries to give him more kisses than we let her.

- He is a dream baby. We've had a few nights where he's slept 5+ hours at a time. He only cries if I don't feed him soon after he tells us he's hungry and if he's cold when his diaper is being changed. Other than that, usually not a peep.

- He loves his car seat and going for car rides, especially when it's not to the Dr.'s office to have his foot pricked.

- Speaking of foot pricking... We had to go to the Dr.'s office for the first seven days after we got home because he had jaundice. It was a slightly increased level when we left but then got pretty high. We spent the next seven days watching it lower, lower, lower, INCREASE, lower, lower... clear. It was pretty scary. He had to be first on a UV light that covered his back and made him look like he had a tail then when it increased again we had to switch to a full UV bed. Thankfully,he was a champ through all of it. He wasn't in any pain so it was just painful for us to watch him because all we wanted to do was cuddle but couldn't. He's in the clear now and it will go down the rest of the way on it's own.

- Other than the jaundice (which was almost inevitable with our difference is blood- positive vs negative, and I guess the risk is greater with our higher altitude too??) he is in perfect health. Oh thank heaven!!

- He has had the opportunity to meet all of our immediate family-- his grandparents, aunts, uncles and 1st cousins. I know that he has enjoyed meeting everyone and we all look forward to the time when we get to "play" more and his personality really gets to shine through!

- Bobby and I are really starting to feel like we're getting the hang of this. There have been some trying times, that's for sure but I think overall (with the help of others) we are starting to feel good. He of course will throw us a curve ball every now and then but I think he's been pretty generous to us- all the way from when the pregnancy first started, to labor and delivery, to now.
He really is a DREAM BABY!

WE LOVE YOU, LUKE!

Our first tummy time. We're trying it both on the Boppy and the floor. So far he's liking it.

The belly button fell off so here we are pre-bath. He liked the water and seemed pretty content until we were drying him off and he got a little chilly.

(more pictures later... these are taking too long to load at 2:30!)
